ANNOUNCING CLERICUS 2017
ANGLICAN CONVOCATION OF THE WEST
WHAT: The annual Clericus of the Anglican Convocation of the West, with the theme presented by our guest, Bishop Stephen Scarlett; "Spiritual Formation and Evangelism."
Bp. Stephen Scarlett was born in Walnut Creek, California and was raised in the East Bay area of northern California. He attended the University of Oregon, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate. He pursued theological studies at St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College in Berkeley and Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, where he received an M.A. in theology.
Bp. Scarlett began his ministry as a lay reader by founding St. Mark’s Church in Kentfield, CA. in 1983. He was ordained as a Deacon in February of 1986 and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. He spent his brief time there traveling around the south, visiting and serving Anglican churches in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Florida. He was called to St. Matthew’s in October of 1986. He was ordained as a priest at St. Matthew’s in December of 1986 and has served as rector of St. Matthew’s since that time.
Bp. Scarlett and his wife Nancy have three teenage sons, Alexander, Eric and Michael. They are residents of Irvine, having lived in Woodbridge since 1987.
WHEN: April 18-20,
Tuesday, April 18 : Registration opens at 4pm, Evensong is at 5pm, and the Vicar General's Reception is after dinner (dinner is included in your fee).
Thursday, April 20: Sessions will conclude at 11:30am. The concluding lunch, as usual, will be at a local Mesilla restaurant.

Their website gives directions. Interstate access is I-10. Airport and Amtrak access is El Paso, TX. Closest city is Las Cruces, NM.
Holy Cross is a Franciscan community in one of the later colonial settlements along the Rio Grande, not far from the older 17th century villages. It is an area of acequias, farms and orchards.
The center provides basic room items: towels, bedding, soap, etc. Rooms are first and second story, so if you can't do stairs, let us know. The facility itself is accessible.
WHY: The Convocation clergy are a community, and most value the occasion to come together in worship, continuing education and community, The Clericus addresses the need we all have for Christian formation, and recognizes it is best done in the context of a worshiping community.

Cost is $175 for individuals and $275 for couples and is all-inclusive (two nights, five meals, reception, conference cost).
3) Dress is casual, but cassocks are invited for clergy on Tuesday. There is no need to bring vestments except for those participating in officiating or serving at one of the worship services.
4) If you need a ride from Amtrak or the airport, let us know as soon as possible.
WHO: The Clericus is for all the clergy and candidates of the Convocation of the West. Others, lay or clergy, are most welcome as well.
